Northern Lights Photo Contest

Share Your Northern Lights Highlights

Northern Lights, Inc. invites members to participate in a photo contest designed to spotlight the natural wonders and everyday moments that make North Idaho and Western Montana so special.

If you enjoy photographing breathtaking landscapes, sneaking snapshots of wildlife, and capturing vibrant community spirit, we’d like to see your photos taken within the Northern Lights service area. A region rich with opportunities for stunning photography, the service territory includes Boundary, Bonner, and Kootenai counties in Idaho, Lincoln and Sanders counties in Montana, and Pend Oreille County in Washington.

Submitted photographs help showcase the natural beauty of the region we call home and the rural landscapes we’ve proudly served for more than 90 years. We love photos that include power lines, poles, and other Northern Lights infrastructure, too.

3 winners will be selected. Winning photos may also be featured on the cover of future editions of Ruralite, distributed monthly to more than 19,000 Northern Lights members.

All submitted images may also be showcased in the magazine, in other Northern Lights print publications or member communications, on our website, and across our social media channels.

What We Want to See

We’d love to see your photos that capture:

  • Beautiful landscapes: Forests, fields, mountains, rivers, and lakes
  • Local landmarks: Iconic places that define our region
  • Seasonal beauty: Spring blooms, summer adventures, autumn colors, and winter scenes
  • Natural beauty: Wildlife, flowers, sunsets, and rural vistas
  • Everyday moments: Candid shots that reflect the character of local communities. Extra consideration is given to photos that include power lines, poles, or other Northern Lights infrastructure.

First-, second-, and third-place winners receive $150, $100 and $75 Visa gift cards, respectively. Winning photos are published with credits given to photographers.
