paying their electric bills. Energy-assistance and weatherization
programs may be available through local and state agencies.

Idaho Energy Assistance

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Idaho LIHEAP helps eligible households pay a portion of their
home-heating costs. Assistance is administered through local Community
Action Agencies and is subject to income requirements and available
funding.

Assistance May Include

  • Seasonal heating assistance applied toward an eligible
    household’s heating bill.
  • Crisis heating assistance for eligible households
    facing disconnection, an existing disconnection, a past-due balance,
    or an emergency shortage of heating fuel.
  • Weatherization assistance to improve energy
    efficiency, reduce heating costs, and make qualifying homes more
    comfortable.

Montana Energy Assistance

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Montana LIHEAP helps eligible households pay a portion of their primary
home-heating costs. Eligibility is based on household income, resources,
and other program requirements.

Application Periods

  • LIHEAP: Applications are accepted during the heating
    season, October 1 through April 30.
  • Weatherization: Applications may be submitted
    throughout the year.

Weatherization Assistance

Montana’s Weatherization Program helps qualifying households reduce
energy use and improve home comfort. Services may include insulation,
reducing air leakage, and efficiency or safety checks of heating
equipment.
