Giving The Gift Of Life

Northern Lights has been a partner of the Inland Northwest Blood Bank – now called
Vitalant – for over 25 years. NLI holds blood drives twice a year and is proud of our frequent
employee donors.

If you live in the Inland Northwest and are in need of blood, that life-saving blood will come from one of Vitalant’s gracious donors. NLI’s consistent support of the blood bank has contributed to benefiting thousands of lives.

The Need for Blood:

• In one year, 4.5 million Americans will need a blood transfusion 
• The blood used in an emergency is already on the shelves before the event occurs
• One donation can save the lives of up to three people
• Someone needs blood every two seconds
• About one in seven people entering the hospital will need blood
• There is no substitute for human blood – anyone receiving a transfusion will receive blood donated
