Board Vacancy Announcement

The Board of Northern Lights, Inc. seeks applications from eligible District 4 members to fill the remainder of the Director term that expires May 2025. This position will be filled by Board appointment.

To be considered for an interview, applicants for this position must submit a letter of interest and a resume to the Board of Directors of Northern Lights, Inc. via electronic mail by the close of business December 20, 2021, as well as a Declaration of Director Candidate form.

 

Declaration of Director Candidate Form – District 4 Vacancy

 

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements (NLI Bylaws Section 4.02):

SECTION 4.02. Qualifications. To be become or remain a Director, an individual must comply with the following:

    1. be an individual who is a member of the Cooperative, eighteen (18) years or older, and in good standing. To be in good standing a member:
      1. shall not have more than two (2) late payments to the Cooperative or no more than one (1) non-sufficient funds check issued to the Cooperative within the prior twelve (12) months;
      2. shall not be subject to a restraining order or injunction prohibiting contact with the Cooperative; and
      3. shall have no felony conviction for a crime involving moral turpitude.
    2. must not be a close relative of an incumbent Director;
    3. must maintain a primary residence receiving service from the Cooperative in the geographical area represented by the Director during the period of the Director’s tenure except as provided in Section 4.03. If the Director’s primary residence changes to a location outside the District, the Director shall no longer be eligible to serve. A primary residence is:
      1. the main residence where the Director usually lives when not traveling for work or pleasure; and
      2. the residence at which the Director claims a homeowner’s exemption if they own real property where they reside; and
      3. the residence within the area where the Director pays state income taxes if required by the state; and
      4. is the address on the Director’s driver’s license; and
      5. is the address used by the Director when registering to vote.
    4. must not be an employee of the Cooperative nor have been employed by the Cooperative within the past five (5) years; and
    5. must not be employed by or financially interested in a competing enterprise or a business selling electric energy or supplies to the Cooperative, or a business substantially engaged in selling fixtures or supplies to the Cooperative. Notwithstanding any of the foregoing provisions of this Section relating to “close relative” relationship, no incumbent Director shall lose eligibility to remain a Director or to be re-elected as a Director if they become a close relative of another incumbent Director or of a Cooperative employee solely because of a marriage or an adoption to which the Director was not a party.
