Ductless Heat Pumps

Heat pumps have the potential to save you money on your home heating bill. Heat pumps are air conditioners that include a reverse cycle for heating, so they cool homes in summer and heat them in winter. A heat pump is at least twice as efficient as an electric-resistance forced-air furnace.

Ductless units, also known as a mini-splits, are for homes without ducts and are easily installed as a new primary heat source for electrically heated homes.

Qualifications

You can potentially qualify for rebates if you:

  • Have an existing single-family home with permanently installed electric resistance heat as the primary heating system, such as a forced-air electric furnace or zonal electric-resistance heating (baseboards, wall heaters, radiant heating, etc.)

You would not qualify for a rebate if your home has:

  • A non-electric furnace such as natural gas, propane or oil
  • A wood or pellet stove
  • A ducted air source heat pump
