Ductless Heat Pumps
PrintHeat pumps have the potential to save you money on your home heating bill. Heat pumps are air conditioners that include a reverse cycle for heating, so they cool homes in summer and heat them in winter. A heat pump is at least twice as efficient as an electric-resistance forced-air furnace.
Ductless units, also known as a mini-splits, are for homes without ducts and are easily installed as a new primary heat source for electrically heated homes.
Qualifications
You can potentially qualify for rebates if you:
- Have an existing single-family home with permanently installed electric resistance heat as the primary heating system, such as a forced-air electric furnace or zonal electric-resistance heating (baseboards, wall heaters, radiant heating, etc.)
You would not qualify for a rebate if your home has:
- A non-electric furnace such as natural gas, propane or oil
- A wood or pellet stove
- A ducted air source heat pump
Requirements
Required documentation is listed on the rebate form and includes:

- A copy of the paid invoice (including equipment purchased and installation costs)
- AHRI certificate
Rebate amount available depends on the type of heating currently in the home.
